Mexican Hot Chocolate Cake

This flavor was born out of a desire to pay homage to the original chocolate lovers, the indigenous peoples of what is today Mexico. From the Aztecs, to the Mayans, and even back to the Olmecs, chocolate has long been used as a tonic for vitality and health. The traditional beverage could be served hot or cold, spiced with chiles, and bitter. 
Here, I've sweetened things up in cake form! The gently spiced chocolate cake is paired with a dark chocolate spiced honey ganache and decadent dark chocolate frosting. For me, every bite feels like reaching back in time and sending appreciation to the pioneers of chocolate.
